Before you begin
- Use these instructions for connecting a personal phone, tablet, or computer to eduroam.
- If your device has connected to eduroam before, remove or forget the old eduroam configuration before reinstalling.
- If you are off campus, use these instructions to set up access to eduroam.
- During setup, follow the SecureW2 prompts and do not choose certificate settings such as Do not check or Do not validate
- Visiting the campus? Register to use the UDel_Guest Wi-Fi network.
- Have a gaming console, Amazon Echo, wireless printer, or other browserless device? Register it for the UD Devices Wi-Fi network.
Important message for Summer 2026 Semester
Your computer or device may have problems connecting to eduroam. Examples include Windows systems with a Snapdragon processor and Mac systems with an M3 chip. HP systems that have Realtek Wi-Fi cards may also fail to connect to eduroam. If your system or device cannot connect to eduroam using the standard eduroam instructions, try these alternative eduroam instructions.

Start here: connect to eduroam
Students and employees: Follow these steps the first time you connect a device to eduroam, the Wi-Fi used at UD.
- Open your device’s Wi-Fi settings and connect to Get Started at UD.
- Open a web browser and go to wifi.udel.edu.
- The Secure UD Wi-Fi screen opens. If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select an Alternate OS.

- Select JoinNow.
- Some devices may send you to an app store first. If that happens, install the required app, then return to the setup page and continue.
- If the Secure W2 software does not open automatically, look for it in your device's downloads area or click Run.
- Sign In with provide your UD log-in credentials.
- Follow the remaining prompts. When setup is complete, check your Wi-Fi settings to confirm that you are connected to eduroam.
Eduroam Acceptable Use Policy
By using eduroam, you agree to abide by the the eduroam Acceptable Use Policy.
When you connect to eduroam outside of the United States, your encrypted and secured data may be transferred to third parties, including countries and jurisdictions around the world, in order to provide eduroam services.
If you need more specific instructions, use the information below to register your device.
- If this device has connected to eduroam before, forget the old eduroam network first.
- On one of UD's campuses, go click the Wi-Fi network icon from the on your computer and choose Get Started at UD.
- Press Win+I on the keyboard to open the Settings app. Then choose Network & Internet and click Wi-Fi in the left panel. Click Show available networks, and select Get Started at UD. Leave the Connect automatically unchecked, and click Connect.
- Open a web browser, and type this URL into your computer's web browser: wifi.udel.edu
- The Secure UD Wi-Fi screen opens. If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select an Alternate OS.
- Click JoinNow to download the SecureW2 software.
- Most Windows systems will verify that you want to run the file securew2.exe.

Run, the computer may appear to pause. Wait for the next prompt. If prompted, select

SecureW2 JoinNow to continue. When CAS opens, sign in with your UDelNet ID, password, and 2FA code. Then return to SecureW2 and select
Next.
If you see Error: An error occurred: ServletException, close all programs and start again from the step where you open wifi.udel.edu.
- If the User Account Control window opens, click Yes to allow the app to make changes to your device.
- Click Next.
- The program will open a browser to CAS (Central Authentication Service). Enter your UDelNet ID, password, and your 2FA code.

- After logging in, click Next (in the SecureW2 program window).
- When the installation is complete, click Done. Check your Wi-Fi settings to verify that you are connected to eduroam.
- If this Mac has connected to eduroam before, forget the old eduroam network first, then restart the computer.
- On one of UD's campuses, choose Get Started at UD from your computer's Wi-Fi menu.
- Open a web browser and go to wifi.udel.edu.
- The Secure UD Wi-Fi screen opens. If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select an Alternate OS.
- Click JoinNow.
- If the Secure W2 software does not open automatically, look for it in your computer's Downloads folder and double-click the icon for WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper.dmg.
- Once the SecureW2_JoinNow folder is open, click the blue WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper icon to continue the installation.
- If you see the standard macOS warning "SecureW2_JoinNow" is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?, click Open.
- Click Next.
- Sign in with your UDelNet ID, password, and 2FA code. Return to SecureW2 and select Next. If macOS asks for permission to make changes, enter the username and password you use to log in to your Mac.
- Click Next.
- In the Profile Window, click Install, click Install again. Log in with your Apple macOS User Name and Password (the User Name and Password that you use to log in to your computer).
- If the "eapolclient wants to access key "SecureW2 JoinNow Private Key" in your keychain" message opens, type the password you use when you log in to your computer, and choose Always Allow.
- When the installation is complete, click Done. Check your Wi-Fi settings to verify that you are connected to eduroam.

iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch
- If this device has connected to eduroam before, forget the old eduroam network first.
- On one of UD's campuses, choose Get Started at UD from your iOS device's Wi-Fi menu.
- Open a web browser and go to wifi.udel.edu
- The Secure UD Wi-Fi screen opens. If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select an Alternate OS.
- Tap Sign In.
- The program will open a browser to CAS (Central Authentication Service). Enter your UDelNet ID, password, and your 2FA code to log in*. Otherwise, click Next. If prompted, update your keychain password.
* If ios tries to automatically fill in your password, tap Choose My Own Password.
- Tap JoinNow.
- Tap Allow to download the configuration profile. Tap Close.
- Go to Settings, tap Profile Downloaded, and tap Install, type your ios passcode, and then tap the Install button on the next screen. Tap Install again.
- When you see the Profile Installed screen, tap Done. Check your Wi-Fi settings to verify that you are connected to eduroam.
Android Devices
- If this device has connected to eduroam before, forget the old eduroam network first.
- Go to Settings.
- On Android 8 devices, choose Connections, then select Wi-Fi. On Android 7 devices, just select Wi-Fi from Settings.
- Select eduroam.
- Tap Forget.
- On one of UD's campuses, go to the Wi-Fi settings on your Android device and select the Get Started at UD Wi-Fi network.
- Open a web browser, and go to wifi.udel.edu
- If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select an Alternate OS.
- Make sure that Google Play Store (App) is selected under Step 1. Then tap Download to install the SecureW2 JoinNow app.
- After the app has been downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store, tap the OPEN button.
- Your device may then display the Secure UD Wi-Fi web page again. If it does, in the Step 2 portion of the web page, tap JoinNow.
- When prompted, enter your UDelNet ID, UD password, and 2FA code. Enter your password again to confirm it, then tap Continue.
- You may see a message that the device is being configured. When the configuration is complete you'll see a screen like the one shown below. Tap Done.
- Check your Wi-Fi settings to verify that you are connected to eduroam.
Connecting on Chrome OS Devices
- If this Chromebook has connected to eduroam before, forget the old eduroam network first.
- On one of UD's campuses, go to Network, select Wi-Fi, and select the Get Started at UD network.
- Type this URL into your Chrome browser: wifi.udel.edu
- If your device's operating system was not detected correctly, use the menu to Select Chrome OS.
- Click Sign in, and log in with your UD credentials. If you have already signed in, you will not need to sign in again.
- Click Download.
- In your web browser, open the Network tab.
- Under Import ONC File, click Choose File.
- Click Downloads. Then select SecureW2.onc, and click Open.
- You'll now see Networks imported: 1 under the Import ONC file section.
- Open your device’s Network settings, then select eduroam.
- The first time you connect, select Do not check from the Server CA certificate menu, then select Connect.

Some Linux distributions may require SecureW2 to be installed with root privileges by using sudo.
Command-line directions
- If this computer has connected to eduroam before, forget the old configuration first.
- Connect to the Get Started at UD Wi-Fi network by typing
nmcli c up id "Get Started at UD"
- In a browser window, go to wifi.udel.edu and download the Linux SecureW2 JoinNow client to the directory of your choice.
- In the system terminal window, type the following:
chmod 777 /path/to/directory/SecureW2_JoinNow.run
replacing /path/to/directory with the path of the directory in which you stored the downloaded file.
- In the system terminal window, type the following:
sh /path/to/directory/SecureW2_JoinNow.run
replacing /path/to/directory with the path of the directory in which you stored the downloaded file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Graphical interface directions
- If this computer has connected to eduroam before, forget the old configuration first.
- Use the NetworkManager Applet icon or the Applications Menu to open the Network Connections window. Select Get Started at UD.
- Open a web browser and go to wifi.udel.edu. You will see the Secure UD Wi-Fi web page.
- Make sure the Select an Alternate OS pulldown says "Linux".
- Click the JoinNow button.
- On the Joining UD Wi-Fi page, choose Save File, then select OK.
- Open a system terminal window and navigate to the directory where you saved the SecureW2_JoinNow.run file.
- Type the following command:
chmod 777 SecureW2_JoinNow.run
- Type the following command:
sh SecureW2_JoinNow.run
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
If you are not able to connect to eduroam, submit the Wi-Fi support request form.
