Fall 2024 Semester: Issues connecting to eduroam

Your computer or device may have problems connecting to eduroam. Examples include Windows systems with a Snapdragon processor and Mac systems with an M3 chip. If your system or device cannot connect to eduroam using the standard eduroam instructions, try these alternative eduroam instructions.

Windows Systems eduroam instructions (alternative)

Try these instructions if your Windows system cannot connect to eduroam.

  1. Select Get Started at UD in your Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Navigate to wifi.udel.edu from your preferred browser.
  3. Use the “Select Your Device” drop-down menu to select Non-specific OS.
  4. Click Sign In.
  5. Move past the sign-in screen using your UD login.
  6. Select Create. You do not need to provide the "User Description” or “MAC Address”.
  7. A private key must be created. Type a passphrase for your key, and choose something you can easily remember because you will need to use it for step 12.
  8. Do not immediately click "Next" when you see the message to “Install your certificate by selecting any one of the following formats”. Instead, choose the P12 format. You can leave this window open while you complete the remaining steps.
  9. After it finishes downloading to your computer, locate and run the downloaded Wi-Fi certificate.
  10. The “Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard” appears. Verify Current User is selected, and click Next.
  11. Confirm the file path of the launched certificate. Make sure it is the most recently downloaded certificate that displays your UdelNetID (for example, C:\Users\yourusername\downloads\yourusername@UDel.Edu.p12). Once confirmed, select Next.
  12. Type the passphrase that you set in step 7. Only the "Include all extended properties" checkbox should have a checkmark. Click Next
  13. Choose Automatically select the certificate storage based on the certificate type, and then select Next.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. When the Security Warning opens, click Yes.
  16. Go to your Wi-Fi settings, and select Eduroam.
If a box requesting a username and password opens, click the link (under the credentials box) to use a certificate instead.
