Microsoft Exchange Online at UD

All faculty, staff, and students start at UD with a Google account to use with email and calendaring. Some people may need either a full Microsoft Exchange account for email and calendaring, or a calendar only Exchange account. The UD Exchange Online service provides accounts to current University of Delaware employees only.

Common reasons why someone needs a Microsoft Exchange account are

  • The department of employment primarily uses Microsoft Exchange.
  • Needing access to entities on Exchanges such as shared calendars, public calendars, share-mailboxes, or resource mailboxes.
  • Needing to be able to use Teams calendars, integrate a personal calendar with Microsoft Bookings, or administer a Bookings calendar.
  • Needing to access certain Microsoft add-ons, such as the Mendeley add-on to Word.

Those who need an Exchange account but want to continue to read email on Google can request a calendar only Exchange account. For more information, review the Exchange Calendar-only accounts knowledge article.

Microsoft Outlook is the preferred client for use with Microsoft Exchange. Microsoft Outlook is available for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android OS, and through a web browser. Some features, such as online archiving, will not work in non-Outlook clients.
