In some circumstances it is important for employees to keep their personal calendars on Exchange, while at the same time keeping their standard Google Workspace account for mail.
Common reasons for needing an Exchange calendar only account:
- To share a calendar with other Exchange users.
- To access Exchange users' calendars.
- To access other Exchange resources, such as Exchange shared mailboxes, public folders, or resource mailboxes.
- To access a Microsoft add-on, such as the Mendeley add-on. Microsoft requires a full or calendar only Exchange account to access Microsoft add-ons.
Good to know:
- A Google calendar cannot be synchronized with an Exchange calendar. In other words, if you put an appointment on your Google calendar, it will not automatically appear on your Exchange calendar, and vice versa.
- Those who have an Exchange calendar only account can continue to use both individual and shared Google calendars.
- Those who have an Exchange calendar only account .
- Calendar only Exchange accounts should be accessed using Microsoft Outlook on the web.
If you wish to request a calendar only Exchange account, send an email to askit@udel.edu with the UDelNet ID of the person and the reason they need a calendar-only account. Please specify the requested date of calendar only account creation. You can also use the UD Exchange Account Request Form and specify (in the reason for the request field) that you want a calendar-only account. To access the form from off-campus, you must first connect to the UD VPN.
