Information about Requesting or Removing a Microsoft Exchange Account

Requesting an account for new employees or those migrating from other systems

The UD Exchange Online service provides accounts to current University of Delaware employees only.

  1. Before an Exchange account can be provisioned, new employees must be active in the HR system.
  2. Submit a UD Exchange Account Request Form to the UDIT Support Center. Include any extra resources needed, such as shared mailboxes, or public calendars with a list of access privileges (full or read-only).
    1. Indicate if this is a migration on the UD Exchange Account Request Form.
    2. Prior to migration, delete unnecessary messages and empty the trash folder.
    3. When you are notified that the Exchange account has been created, use these instructions to access your account. Contact your IT professional for assistance.
    4. The request form generates a Support Center incident that will be used to facilitate the Exchange account creation.
  3. Your Gmail and your individual Google Calendar will migrate to Exchange. Please note that calendar migrations may not be seamless. If your calendar does and you need your calendar, your calendar will need to be manually migrated. Please submit a Microsoft Exchange Account Migration ticket to arrange assistance.
  4. Google Contacts are not included in the migration. They will need to be manually migrated.

Individuals leaving the University

Individuals cannot use Exchange Online after leaving the University, regardless of the reason for termination or retirement. At this time, Retirees who retain their UD email accounts after leaving UD must migrate to a Google udel.edu email account.

If you want to migrate your Exchange account back to Google, contact the IT Support Center.

Removing an account

  1. Submit a Help Ticket Request to the IT Support Center or send an email to askit@udel.edu.
  2. Provide your name, department, and last day of employment.
  3. If you need to transfer Exchange data to another computer, you can export the data to a .pst file and copy it to external media on or before your last day of employment.
