Exchange Online: Passwords

Your password for the UD Exchange Online service is the same as your UDelNet ID password. To change your UDelNet ID password, visit the My UD Settings and follow the on-screen instructions. Password changes will take up to 15 minutes to propagate through UD systems.

Passwords are limited by the following criteria:

  1. Cannot be a word found in the dictionary. The best practice is to make a password or passphrase not based on a single word or name.
  2. Must consist of a minimum of 12 characters, with at least one character from three of the following four categories:
    • uppercase letters
    • lowercase letters
    • numbers
    • symbols (e.g., #@*&^!)

 

Troubleshoot your Exchange Online password:

  • If the program or app you are using will not allow you to access your Exchange Online account, try to log in to Outlook on the Web
    • If you can access Outlook on the Web, the issue is most likely the program or app you are using. 
      • Verify you are connected to the network. If you are on-campus, make sure that you are connected to eduroam Wi-Fi.
      • Try restarting the program or app to see whether this helps.
      • Wait 20 minutes. If an incorrect password was used to try to access your account, your account may have automatically locked. If locked, your account will unlock in 20 minutes.
      • If the above steps do not help, contact the IT Support Center.
    • If you are unable to access Outlook on the Web:
      • Wait 20 minutes. If an incorrect password was used to try to access your account, your account may have locked. If locked, your account will unlock in 20 minutes.
      • If you are new to UD and have never accessed your UD o365/Exchange account, you may need to force a password synchronization. To do this, reset your UDelnet ID password at My UD Settings
