UD VPN: Downloading AnyConnect Client Software on a Computer

  • When signing in to UD resources using a VPN connection you are required to use 2FA.

  • Faculty, staff, and students who log in to Copland from off-campus are required to use a VPN connection.


 
  1. Download the Cisco AnyConnect software from the UDeploy Software Distribution site.
  • The versions of AnyConnect available on UDeploy are all pre-configured for the University of Delaware's network. Versions are available for Windows 32/64-bit, MacOS 10.8 and higher, Linux 32-Bit, and Linux 64-Bit systems.

  1. Install the software as indicated in the table below. Accept all installation defaults.
  2. Refer to the IT guide for step-by-step directions on using AnyConnect on a desktop or laptop computer.

How to Run Installer

Windows

AnyConnect UDel 4.7x Win

  1. Right-Click on the download file and select "Run as administrator" to start the installation.
  2. Accept all defaults.

Mac OS

AnyConnect UDel 4.8.00175 Mac

  1. DO NOT double-click the downloaded installer as it will not successfully run that way. Instead, right-click on the AnyConnect.pkg and choose "Open" from the pop-up menu to start the installer.
  2. On the ensuing dialog box that states, "macOS cannot identify the developer..." of the app and asks, "Are you sure you want to open the it?" choose "Open."
  3. Accept all defaults.

Linux

AnyConnect UDel 4.7.x Linux

  1. Uncompress and unpack the tar file from the downloaded archive.
  2. The installer needs root privileges, so either log in as root or use the sudo command to run the shell script vpn_install.sh located in the VPN directory to install the AnyConnect VPN client.
