Macintosh: Burning a disk image of Parted Magic .iso

Macintosh OS X 10.3 or later

IMPORTANT NOTE: Parted Magic should only be downloaded and used by an IT Professional or other qualified University department such as the IT Support Center.

Talk to your departmental IT Professional (if your department has one) or contact IT Client Support & Services before downloading or using Parted Magic on UD equipment. Incorrectly burning a disk image for this boot cd could irreparably damage your Mac.

Also, for earlier versions of the Mac OS, you may need to download disc burning software.

  1. Download the .iso file from the Parted Magic website, but do not try to open it. Burn the .iso file (aka disc image) to a blank disc.

  2. Insert a blank disc (e.g. CD, DVD, BD) into your PC or desktop computer.

  3. From your Applications folder in Finder double-click the Utilities folder.

  6. Click the .iso file you downloaded from the Parted Magic website so that the file is highlighted (selected), and click Select.

  7. From the Volume, Disk, Image list in your Disk Utility select the .iso file you selected in step #6 so that it is highlighted.

  8. Click Burn.

  9. When the .iso has finished burning to the disc, click Close and eject the disc from the computer.
