UD departments can sponsor network access for non-UD researchers, contractors, conference attendees, and visitors.
- For longer term access to UDelNet, access to UD email, or access to UD data, departments must request a UD ID as they would for an employee.
- Departments may request temporary sponsored access to the University's network and the Internet using the UDelNet guest registration system.
Long term sponsored accounts
Departments may sponsor long-term accounts on UDelNet and UD systems, including email, by contacting the IT Support Center.
- This type of guest account is designed for
- long term contractors
- long term visitors and visiting researchers
- long term consultants or advisors and
- other people who are not students or who are not employed by UD but who will have a long-term relationship with your department.
- This type of sponsored account is required if your guest requires access to UD data or UD email.
- Your department may need to use the HR onboarding system to set up a UD ID in order to create a UDelNet ID and password for your sponsored guest.
- The guest and a representative of the sponsoring department will need to execute an agreement about the guest's use of University computing resources.

Short term network access
Departments may sponsor access to UDelNet, the campus network, for 1-10 guests using the UDel network guest registration system. To request short-term access for a larger group of guests, contact the IT Support Center.
- This type of guest account is designed for visitors requiring access to UD's network for up to 60 days:
- guest speakers
- workshop attendees and
- other short-term visitors to campus.
- This type of sponsored account grants Internet access through the University's network, but does not grant permission to access UD email or UD data.
