Overview: Shared mailboxes at UD

Most of the mailing lists supported at UD act as "mail reflectors." That is, one email message sent to one address is "reflected" (forwarded) to multiple addresses.

Shared mailboxes do not generate multiple copies of an email message. Instead, one message gets sent to one inbox shared by several people. Shared mailbox setup differs depending on whether everybody who need access to the shared mailbox:

Shared mailboxes can be used when there is a need to create a special ID for an organization or department.

  • To request a shared mailbox, submit this form (faculty and staff only).
  • To delete a shared mailbox, submit a help request to the IT Support Center, providing the shared mailbox name.
  • To request access changes for a shared mailbox, submit a help request to the IT Support Center, providing the shared mailbox name and the names and UDelNet IDs of the people who need access added or removed. If you are requesting to add people, please indicate if they need "Send-As" access (ability to send mail from the shared mailbox ID) in addition to "Full Access."
