Why can't I change my PIN?

The University has retired the use of four- and six-digit PINs. Using a longer password or passphrase is more secure than a login process that uses a PIN.

Why do I need to answer security questions?

If you forget your login information, you will be required to answer your security questions to reset your password online.

Why do I need to review my communication methods?

If you forget your login information, you will need to verify a phone number or an alternate email address that is associated with your account. If your communication methods are out-of-date, you may not be able to reset your password online.

You will also need to have timely access to this phone or email in order to respond to a password reset verification message. A cell phone for text messages is recommended. You may want to update your communication methods to include your cell phone number. Depending on your cell service, message and data rates may apply, but there are no UD charges.

In the future, if you are not enrolled in two-factor authentication, some UD Apps will use your communication methods to send you a temporary security code to access confidential financial information. If your communication methods are out-of-date, you may not be able to access your financial information online.

How do I update my communication methods?

You may use the checkboxes on the Communication Methods page to exclude phone numbers or email addresses from being used for authentication purposes, but you are encouraged to keep your records current. Use the following instructions to update the phones or email addresses in your records.

  • My Blue Hen Home:
    1. Newly admitted students can continue to manage communication methods in My Blue Hen Home until matriculation (before New Student Orientation).
    2. After matriculation and New Student Orientation, follow the UDSIS instructions below.
  • UDSIS:
    1. Log in to UDSIS.
    2. In the Personal Information section, click Demographic Data.
    3. Choose the phone numbers tab to review and edit your email addresses. Students who do not have a non-UD email address on file should provide a personal email address in UDSIS. Doing so facilitates password resets in the event that students forget their security questions and answers.
  • Employee Emergency Notification Web Form:
    1. Full and part-time employees may use the Employee Emergency Notification Web Form to update phone numebrs associated with their employee records.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA):
    1. Log in to My UD Settings.
    2. In the My account settings section, click Change my two-factor authentication settings.
    3. Review or update your 2FA phone numbers in the Phone numbers section. Be sure to click Save changes or Finish & submit when done.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) secures your information by requiring two methods of identification to log in to a service. The two methods at the University of Delaware are a combination of your UDelNet ID and password, followed by a unique code that is sent directly to you.

View the Getting started with two-factor authentication help page for more information.
