Introduction
The University of Delaware provides email, calendaring, web site creation, and chat through Google Workspace for Education, an integrated communication and collaboration solution. For information on the applications, click a link below. Our agreement allows any UD faculty, staff, student, or retiree to use Google Workspace at UD. UD alumni can keep their Google Workspace account after graduation. You access your account using your UDelNetID and password at the Google Workspace at UD login page.
Your Google workspace account has a
storage limit, and data you store in Google Workspace counts against this storage limit. Please take steps to eliminate large files that you don't need from your Google Workspace account.

Google add-ons and extensions at UD are disabled by default for security reasons. Third party apps can be approved but must first be thoroughly vetted. If you want to start vetting process, use the UD tech request form. Learn more about add-ons at UD at: Add-ons to UD Core Services.

Google Workspace for Education FAQ

Google is now enforcing a storage limit which has required the UD community to participate in a storage reduction effort. Please take steps to eliminate large files from your UD Google Workspace account.
- Who is eligible to use Google Workspace?
Our agreement allows any UD faculty, staff, student, or retiree to use Google Workspace for Education.
- How do I log in to my Google Workspace account?
You access your account using your UDelNetID and password at the Google Workspace login page.
- What do I do if I already have a Google Account where I log in with UDelNet ID@udel.edu?
If you already have a Google account where you log in with UDelNet ID@udel.edu, you can use the Conflicting Google Account directions to resolve the issue and use Google Workspace.

Can I use two Google accounts simultaneously in the same browser?
You can use the
Google's Multiple Sign-in feature to use your Google Workspace and another Google account in the same browser.
- Can I keep my Google Workspace account after I graduate?
Effective May 2029, students will lose access to their @udel.edu email account one year after graduation.
- I am a member of UD's alumni. How can I change my User ID or password?
To change your settings, click the Alumni Settings link on the Google Workspace login page.

Gmail
- Is there a limit to how much data I can store in Google Workspace?
Your Google Workspace account has a storage limit, and data you store in GMail, Google Drive, and other Google Apps counts against this storage limit.
- What is the maximum size for a Google Workspace at UD attachment?
Google Workspace limits the size of attachments to 25MB. Keep in mind that the recipient's email system may not allow attachments of this size.
- How do I manage spam email?
It's important to check your SPAM folder in Google email to make sure that legitimate messages aren't sent there by accident. The Google Help information on SPAM explains how to filter messages to ensure that only legitimate messages arrive in your Inbox.
- How can I forward my Google Workspace to an outside email provider (Verizon, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc.)?
If you choose to forward your mail, you can do so by using the UD Network Page.
Remember that, according to the University’s Electronic Communications Policy, every student “must be responsible for receiving and reading any official communication sent to his or her ‘udel.edu’ account." The policy further states that, “if you choose to forward your email from udel.edu to another email server—either to a departmental server or to an off-campus ISP's server—you are responsible for making sure that your email forwarding is working so that you can continue to receive and read your email in a timely fashion.”
- How can I change my email address for Google Workspace?
To change your UDelNetID (and, hence, your email address), log in to My UD Settings.
- What if I already have a Gmail.com email account?
Your Gmail.com account is separate from your Google Workspace account. There is no association between the two of them. You may share calendars and Google Documents from one account to the other so that you can access them from either account. If you are already forwarding your udel.edu email to a Gmail account, you will notice no change.

Privacy and Security
- How does Google protect my privacy?
Google upholds a strict privacy policy and is committed to respecting the privacy of the information placed in its systems by not giving that information to others or using it inappropriately.

Google agrees that students’ data is subject to FERPA requirements: “To the extent that Google has access to ‘Education Records,’ it is deemed a ‘school official,’ as each of these terms are defined under FERPA. Google agrees to comply with its obligations under FERPA.”
- Does Google share my personal information with outside organizations?
No. Google is committed to upholding the privacy of your personal information.
- How secure is Google Workspace? Does Google protect me from hackers, spam, viruses and phishing attacks?
Google has one of the best spam blockers in the business. It checks for viruses and blocks them by not allowing you to download executable files that could contain damaging code.
