Accessing win.udel.edu file shares
Shared drives are only accessible from either of the following network connections:
Mapping a shared drive
Windows computers
- Mapping a drive depending on which version of the operating system you use:
- On Windows 10, open File Explorer from the Start Menu. or press the Windows logo key + E. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.
- On Windows 11, open File Explorer from the Start Menu. or press the Windows logo key + E. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the File Explorer ribbon, select More... > Map network drive.
- Select an unused drive letter.
- Type the directory (folder) name in the following format: \\win.udel.edu\OUName\ShareName
- Example: \\win.udel.edu\css\shares
- Connect using WIN\UDelNetID as the username (for example, WIN\maryqq), and use the associated password.
- You can now access information on that share via that drive letter.
Macintosh computers
- In Finder under the Go menu, select Connect to Server.
- In the Server Address field, the correct format is as follows:
- smb://win.udel.edu/OUName/sharename
- Example: smb://win.udel.edu/css/shares
- Connect using WIN\UDelNetID as the username (for example, WIN\maryqq), and use the associated password.
The directory now appear in Finder under Volumes.
