How to Access Win Domain File Services

Accessing win.udel.edu file shares

File shares are only accessible from the following:

• On campus hardwired IPs (128.175 and 128.4),
• The UDel Secure wireless network, and
• A VPN connection from off campus. (Information about installing and using VPN at UD)

Windows computers

On a Windows computer, map a drive.

• Map a drive depending on which version of the operating system you use:
  • On Windows 7, select Computer from the Start Menu, then Map Network Drive from the toolbar.
  • On Windows 8, open Windows Explorer, then right-click Network and choose Map Network Drive.
• Select an unused drive letter.
• The folder should be filled in as \\win.udel.edu\OUName\ShareName
  • Example: \\win.udel.edu\css\shares
• Connect using WIN\UDelNet ID and the associated password.
• You can now access information on that share via that drive letter.

Macintosh computers

On a Macintosh computer, make an SMB Network connection.

• In Finder under the Go menu, select Connect to Server.
• In the Server Address field, the correct format is as follows:
  • smb://win.udel.edu/OUName/Sharename
  • Example: smb://win.udel.edu/css/shares
• Connect using WIN\UDelNet ID and the associated password.

A connection will now appear in Finder under Volumes.
