CAS OPERATIONS
Services Model
Communications
The College of Arts & Sciences Communications team encourages graduate students, faculty and staff to share news about student achievements.
Sharing student achievements
- Units and departments can announce student achievements in For the Record, a weekly article posted in UDaily’s Campus and Community section.
- The UD Office of Communications & Marketing accepts information about recent appointments, honors, presentations and publications. The information must be in paragraph form and no longer than five to six sentences.
- To submit information for For the Record, email ocm@udel.edu with “For the Record” in the subject line.
- To share For the Record news with the CAS Communications team, submit a project request form to feature the news on the CAS digital network including unit and college webpages and CAS social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn).
Share student research
- Departments can upload student publications to the UD Library's UDSpace Institutional Repository, which provides open access to scholarly works by UD authors—including CAS graduate students.
- Students can also share research on noncommercial platforms (e.g., Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus and ResearchGate).
- When citing or sharing publications, always include a DOI link so readers can locate the work even if its web address changes. Use a DOI lookup tool such as Scribbr’s DOI Finder to obtain the DOI itself, not the lookup page.
Boost visibility on LinkedIn
Graduate students can enhance their professional presence by linking their LinkedIn profiles to their department’s “Our People” page. For best results:
- Adjust profile settings to control what content is publicly visible.
- Provide a clear, searchable headline (e.g., “Ph.D. Candidate in Chemistry | Atmospheric Research”).
- Customize your banner image and URL.
- Use the “About” section to summarize research interests, professional goals and the significance of your work.
- Use a high-quality, professional headshot.
- In the “Experience” section, include assistantships, fellowships, teaching positions, collaborations and internships. Highlight transferable and technical skills, quantifying accomplishments when possible.
- Share updates, publications and media coverage to grow your network.
