If your UD Google account will be removed, you can use Google Transfer to move your email and My Drive contents to an external, non-UD Google account. Google Transfer keeps your GMail and your My Drive contents in the native Google format.
Alternatively, you can use Google Takeout to download the contents of of your account to a desktop system, transfer your data to a non-Google account, or move only part of your data.
Google Transfer considerations:
- You must have a non-UD Google account to transfer your data into.
- Google Transfer is an all or nothing transfer tool. You can only transfer all email in your account and/or all Google My Drive contents to your external Google account. You cannot choose to transfer only some folders and messages from GMail or some Google Drive files and folders.
- The account that you will transfer your data to must have enough available storage to accommodate the transferred data. Free, individual Google accounts allow for 15GB of storage.
Using Google Transfer
- Log in to your UD Google account and navigate to Google Takeout Transfer.
- Enter the email address of your external Google account in the Enter a destination account field.
- Click SEND CODE.
- Go to your external account and log in to check your email. We strongly recommend opening an incognito or private window in your browser to log in to your personal account to avoid any issues or errors. Alternatively, use a different web browser to access your external account.
- Find and open the email from Google in your personal account. The subject line should be similar to Verify your account.
- Click the Get confirmation code button in the email, which will open a new window or tab.
- Copy the code from the window/tab that opens.
- Return to the Google Takeout Transfer page where you’re logged in with your UD Google account.
- Paste the copied code in the Verify destination account field and click Verify.
- Choose which content you want to copy to your personal account. You can only transfer all drive contents and/or all email.
- Click START TRANSFER to begin the process.
