Tools to Meet & Chat Online

Summary

Learn how to access Zoom and Microsoft Teams to make online meetings and communication between your colleagues and students easy.

Body

Getting Started

With your colleagues and supervisor, identify which service(s) your team uses to meet and communicate.

Special Considerations:

  • Zoom is the approved tool for all University of Delaware videoconferencing needs.
  • If you are conducting search committee meetings and interviews remotely, you will need to take into consideration the following candidate recording guidelines.
  • All UD Zoom Pro licenses are now HIPAA Compliant and satisfy the requirements for HIPAA online security.  While all Zoom meetings are now HIPAA compliant, recordings to the cloud still do not meet HIPAA protocols. Therefore, it is CRITICAL that you are HIPAA compliant in your use of Zoom.  Please see our website for detailed information and a link to join the new HIPAA group for Zoom.
  • Both Zoom and Microsoft Teams are approved for Level I and II data.

Zoom

Zoom at UD is the University's centrally supported, easy-to-use desktop and mobile video conferencing platform with built-in chat.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a workspace chat, and file storage application. Learn more about how to get started with Microsoft Teams or visit some specific information articles below. Teams supports videoconferencing; however, UD's primary technology for videoconferencing is Zoom.
