Effective January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer support or provide security updates for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/R2.
If you continue to use Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008/R2 after support has ended, your system will still work, but it may become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses.
My system is running Windows 7, what action should I take?
- Upgrade the system to Windows 10 or
- Permanently disconnect the system from the University network
Licensing Note: Information about the University’s licensing agreement with Microsoft is available on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) page.
My system is running Windows Server 2008/R2, what action should I take?
- Upgrade the system to Windows Server 2016 or
- Permanently disconnect the system from the University network
Licensing Note: Systems running on the centrally-managed VM cluster have an existing upgrade license; otherwise, a new Windows Server 2016/2019 license may need to be purchased via the UD Blue Hen Market.
