Distinguished Staff Excellence Award
$2,000 Award

Recognizes an individual staff member for consistent excellence, exceptional performance and service to UD, with outstanding contributions to the university in one or more of the following areas of focus:  Student Success; Diversity and Inclusion; Community; Service; Innovation.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Embodies the UD values in their daily work and social interactions.
  • Makes outstanding contributions towards improving a process or procedure or completing a complex project or solving a complex problem for the betterment of the unit/college/university.
  • Demonstrates dedication to cultivating and applying their professional knowledge and expertise in ways that positively impact the mission and/or strategic pillars of UD.
  • Fosters a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

 

Distinguished Team Excellence Award
$4,000 Award

Recognizes a team of employees who exemplify cooperation and collaboration with outstanding contributions to the university in one or more of the following areas of focus: Academic Freedom; Diversity and Inclusion; Community; Service; Innovation.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Embodies the UD values in their daily work and social interactions.
  • Extends their efforts across multiple UD departments, units, or entities
  • Achieves results which impact a large constituency of UD employees, students and/or community members
  • Makes outstanding contributions towards improving a process or procedure or completing a complex project or solving a complex problem for the betterment of the unit/college/university.
  • Demonstrates dedication to cultivating and applying their professional knowledge and expertise in ways that positively impact the mission and/or strategic pillars of UD.
  • Fosters a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Innovation Excellence Award
$2,000 Award

Recognizes an individual staff member or team that demonstrates the development of creative and innovative solutions to difficult challenges and applies entrepreneurial thought and approaches in everything they do.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Encourages novel approaches to complex challenges.
  • Supports collaboration and deep engagement within the University and with external partners.
  • Contributes to the overall effectiveness and value of the department/unit/team by recommending and developing innovative approaches and solutions.
  • Uses a unique approach or new solution to create a beneficial outcome.
  • Uses a new process, technology, or methodology that positively affects the outcome of a task, event, project or gift.
  • Takes on new initiatives and recommends solutions for the betterment of the team, unit, department, or UD.

Community and Service Excellence Award
$2,000 Award

Recognizes an individual staff member who exemplifies the spirit of our supportive and friendly campus community, fostering a sense of belonging, mutual appreciation and dialogue that supports UD’s mission. Additionally, this award honors those who actively engage in collaborative partnerships with their community, government or industry to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity, ultimately contributing to the public good.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Establishes relationships across university units, with government, industry and/or the community to enrich scholarship, research, creative activity, to enhance curriculum and ultimately contribute to the public good
  • Serves as a mentor or advisor, serves on a college/dept and/or University committee(s)or participates in meaningful service.
  • Leads with enthusiasm; fosters a respectful & cooperative work/classroom climate; demonstrates accountability; makes ethical decisions.
  • Coalesces people around institutional goals.

Student Impact Award
$2,000 Award

Recognizes the contributions of an individual staff member who significantly impacts student success through teaching, advising, mentorship, career development and/or other student engagement initiatives. This award celebrates staff whose contributions advance a broad spectrum of student success factors, including academic achievement, leadership development, personal wellbeing, personal growth and career readiness for either undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Delaware.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Demonstrates clearly evidenced contributions to students’ academic progress, such as improved performance, retention or graduation rates.
  • Supports students’ professional and/or personal growth through mentorship, advising, coaching and/or programs and initiatives that build leadership skills and career readiness.
  • Creates an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging, supports positive mental health and overall personal wellbeing.
  • Actively works to remove barriers to student success.

Excellence in Leadership Award
$2,000

This award honors an individual who embodies the essence of exceptional leadership, regardless of their formal role or title. The recipient of this award leads with integrity, clarity of vision, and a deep commitment to the growth and success of those around them as well as the organization.

The work of nominees should reflect strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Consistently demonstrates honesty, transparency, and ethical decision-making; serves as a role model for others.
  • Articulates a compelling vision; inspires others to align with long-term goals; drives innovation and progress.
  • Actively mentors, supports, and develops others; fosters a culture of growth and learning.
  • Creates positive change; enhances team performance and organizational culture.
  • Champions diverse perspectives; builds inclusive and collaborative environments.
